Die einst gr\u00fcne und fruchtbare Landschaft um Shewaki, deren Obst und Gem\u00fcse fr\u00fcher den Bedarf der Kabuler Bev\u00f6lkerung deckte, ist w\u00e4hrend des langj\u00e4hrigen Kriegs beinahe v\u00f6llig zerst\u00f6rt worden. Die Gegend, in der fr\u00fcher 30.000 Menschen lebten, ist heute kaum bewohnt. Um dies zu \u00e4ndern, hat sich der VAF entschieden, 100 Lehmh\u00e4user zu bauen, um Shewaki wiederzubeleben. Der Wiederaufbau des Dorfs ist ein wichtiger Beitrag dazu. Die Arbeitsleistungen erbrachten die zuk\u00fcnftigen Bewohner, unter der fachkompetenten Bauaufsicht der Mitarbeiter des VAF, selber. Rund 1.000 Menschen leben nun in diesen Lehmh\u00e4usern (pro Familie ca. 10 Personen) und in Folge der Ansiedlung wurden kurz darauf Brunnen, eine Klinik und eine Schule in der Region erbaut. Damit ist wieder Leben nach Shewaki zur\u00fcckgekehrt und hat im Exil lebende Afghanen ermutigt aus Pakistan und dem Iran in ihre Heimat zur\u00fcckzukehren und sich am Wiederaufbau Afghanistans zu beteiligen.
